Film Directors, Cinematographers and Crew

Film · Artists

Film directors, cinematographers, editors, sound recordists and the rest of the crew who make a shoot happen. Each portfolio is built by the person whose name is on it, so the reel, the credits and the contact details sit on one page instead of across a website, a Vimeo account and an outdated CV.

Film credit is fragmented by nature. A gaffer, a colourist and a first AD can all work on the same short and each hold a different fragment of it. Profiles here carry job titles as people actually use them: DoP, editor, sound design, camera operator, second unit, along with the formats they shoot in and the kit they own.

A crew profile is only useful if you can reach the person, so the contact tab carries whatever the filmmaker put there, usually a number that gets answered on a shoot day, and the approach is yours to make. Watching the embedded reels and reading the credits is open to anyone. The reason crew open an account is the other direction: putting up a portfolio of their own costs nothing.

Film work ages differently from a painting. A festival link dies, a client takes a commercial down, a production company folds and the whole reel goes with it. Portfolios here take video embeds from YouTube and Vimeo but also direct uploads, stills, audio and written treatments, so a project survives the platform it first lived on.
