Music Recordings, Live Sets and Scores

Individual pieces of music rather than the people behind them: studio tracks, live sets, compositions, rough sketches that never got finished. Each one is uploaded by the musician who made it, with whatever note they wanted attached, so what you get is the work and the maker's own description of it.

Open one and the shape varies. It might be a four minute mix with the vocal sitting exactly where the producer put it, a twenty minute improvisation recorded in one pass and never edited, a single stem, a demo with the count-in still on the front, or a page of notation photographed off the desk. None of it has been through a label's release schedule.

The reason to sign in on a page like this is following. Follow a musician and their next upload lands in your feed on the date they posted it: nothing is ranked, promoted or held for a better slot. Playing a track needs no account at all, and a session or a commission is arranged at the address on the artist's profile.

How a track arrives matters as much as the track. Some are uploaded as audio files that play in place. Others are embedded from SoundCloud or Spotify, so the plays stay where the artist counts them. A few come as video, because the performance is the point and a fixed camera at the back of the room says more than a clean stereo bounce.
